Sheldon aka "Shelly"

Sheldon is a 16hh Arabian/Standardbred cross with the goofiest personality of any horse we've ever met; he is so playful! Sheldon is really more a "Shelly" so that is what we call him.  Shelly came to us with Kai from the Stroud Kill Pen in Stroud, Oklahoma.  Kai has multiple healed fractures including both sacral iliac joints, a hock break plus an untreated suspensory ligament injury.  Not surprising, Shelly's trust in people was zero but, with patience and working at Shelly's comfort level, we are now able to approach him in the pasture, halter and lead!  Shelly even trusts us enough for fly masking, injections, deworming, and hoof care-all in loose in pasture.

Now, Shelly's needs are few.  He is an easy to keep horse with no health issues.  He behaves as a well adjusted, herd engaged horse and can usually be seen playing with one of his favorite mares and, now and again, "boy play" with Tex.  All are pure joy to witness.
